Before one of the worst pirates in the world is executed, he tells everyone about a great treasure, called One Piece. Saying it is hidden somewhere on the Grand Line (the main shipping route for sea vessels), only the strongest people in the world should look for it. His words inspire hundreds of pirate groups to go searching.
Luffy is a young man searching for the One Piece treasure. Encourage by a pirate named Slash, he wants to become the greatest pirate on the Line. Problem is, he does not have a ship or a crew. However, he does have one thing going for him. Luffy ate the devils fruit which gives him the ability to stretch any part of his body. This comes in handy when fighting the strange assortment of pirates and fighters he comes across.
Through a series of adventures, Luffy gains a crew. There is Zorro The Swordsman, Nami the Pirate Thief, Usopp, an egg shooting pansy, and Sanji, a deadly cook, with powerful legs.
Now, Luffy is ready to set sail on a grand adventure.
